The cool thing about this beach is
that there is a 24-hour fishing pier called the Anglins Fishing Pier. Sightseeing
from the pier is $2 and adult fishing is $7. They sell bait and hooks at the
pier. It also conveniently provides lights for night fishing. The pier offers
two types of fishing: sand (shore-loving fish) and reef “rock” fishing (deep
water/reef-loving fish).
Along Commercial Boulevard there
are plenty of restaurants and shops to stop at. Aruba café is a popular
restaurant that is located right on the sand. There is also a cute little puppy
shop and delightful ice cream, yogurt, and coffee shops.
The beach itself is pretty decent.
The sand is kept clean but I think the ocean water itself is naturally polluted
with seaweed, grass, and other debris from fishing and the surrounding reefs. This day, the water was very smoggy to the point I couldn’t take any underwater pictures or
videos. Then again, there were pretty big waves that can cause this to happen.
Obviously this location has a
history of unique wildlife. Pictures hung in the pier house display fishermen
and their large catches. There is plenty of fish such as snook, snapper,
bluefish, and croakers, and sometimes even sights of sharks. Bait and chum is
usually thrown in the water so swimmers should beware of schools of fish.
Skim boarders, surfers, and
snorkelers tend to like this location. There are no lifeguards. As for parking,
there are meter parking lots around the area.
Currently, there is a lot of
construction to the roads where all the shops are located so expect detours getting to
the beach both by car and foot. An appropriate beach name for its semi-commercial
area.
